Melly's Words to "Pop & Crackle"

Are you a Job???

When I first became a Christian I was on fire!! Though I still love Jesus I have realized that my fire has become more like the sparks that fly off a burning log.  I get ultra motivated (“pop, crackle”) for a time. I do my daily devotions consistently, study the bible, and read books that may give me a better or deeper insight into my own walk. Unfortunately somehow the business, and to be honest, the laziness of life take over until the next spark.

So today I had a spark.:-) I picked up my bible and of all books decided to turn to Job.  Now Job was a man who was tore down and beat up by the enemy.  All of his servants and cattle were stolen or killed, all of his children died, he had a nagging wife, and he was afflicted with boils and sores that covered his body.  Could it get any worse?????

I did not have to go very far in the book for God to speak to me.  I have been asking God “why?’ a lot lately. So when I came to Job 2:10 I realized that I am definitely no Job, but I need to be.

Job 2:10 (Message) He told her, "You're talking like an empty-headed fool. We take the good days from God—why not also the bad days?"

Not once through all this did Job sin. He said nothing against God.

I need to understand that I do not see what God sees and that just as Job trusted God through his turmoil I need to trust God through mine.

I think this may be true for many of us.  It is human nature to want to control our situations but ultimately it gives you nothing but boils (or indigestion).  God is looking for us to trust that no matter what we have to go through, whether for lessons we need to learn, or character development for future positions, we can trust that it is according to His bigger plan.
